Volcanoes

Volcanoes are not randomly distributed. Majority of them are found along the edge of some continents particularly on the western part of North and South America, Eastern region of Asia (Philippines, Japan, Indonesia). Some are located in the middle of Atlantic Ocean and the region of Hawaiian islands. Most active volcanoes surrounds the pacific ocean, we refer them as the pacific "ring of fire". Volcanoes are formed along convergent boundaries wherein when two plates collide, denser plate will subduct beneath the other and move towards the mantle. When the subducted plate reaches the mantle, it melts and turns into a magma which rise up on the surface creating Volcanoes. Some volcanoes are formed on divergent boundary particularly on the mid-Atlantic ridge. Some Volcanoes are formed over the hot spot like the Volcanoes on the Hawaiian Islands.

Here are the three types of Volcano from biggest to smallest

  1. Shield Volcano
  2. Composite Volcano
  3. Cinder Cone Volcano

Shield Volcano may not be the tallest Volcano but it occupies the biggest volume. The largest Volcano on our planet is known as Mauna Loa which is a shield volcano. The largest volcano on our solar system is known as Olympus Mons a shield volcano from planet Mars. Composite volcano or a stratovolcano is the tallest volcano which produce explosive eruption. Cinder cone volcano is the smallest volcano among the three. To know more about the type of volcano kindly visit on the link provided: brainly.ph/question/2082304

The three main categories of Volcano

  • Active Volcano
  • Dormant Volcano
  • Extinct Volcano

Active Volcano are volcanoes which already erupted but have the tendency to erupt again sooner. Dormant Volcano are volcanoes that are not erupted in a long period of time but will still likely to erupt again in the future. Extinct Volcanoes are volcanoes that no one will expect this to erupt again. To know more about Active, Dormant, and Extinct Volcanoes, kindly visit the link: brainly.ph/question/1330608

Distribution of volcanoes all around the world is one of the basis of the scientist in dividing the Earth's lithosphere into several segments called plates. Due to the movement of plates, several geological features are formed on the boundary between each plate like earthquake, mountain ranges, mid-Atlantic ridge, and volcanoes. Volcanoes maybe dangerous since it can destroy human and the live of other living organism including the environment yet, it also helps us understand the history of our planet.
