In my opinion, I think there's not really an advantage with not recognizing and performing your roles in life. But if there is an advantage, I guess it's having less responsibilities. There are a lot of disadvantages in not recognizing and performing them. For example, you are the eldest among your siblings, as the eldest, it is your role to be a good example to your siblings and to guide them when your parents aren't present. If you don't recognize and perform that role, the way your siblings will act will be affected because you are the eldest and if you don't set a good example to them, they'll go by your bad example. It could also possibly put them in danger, especially in the absence of your parents.
