Answer:
- A barangay health center is a community-based and the goal is to offer first aid, maternal and child health care, communicable diseases and other basic health services to all the constituents of the barangay.
Our country is still lacking in many aspects related to healthcare. As such, if I will decide which health initiative to implement I will promote good health and well being, which is also one goal under the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
It is true that a lot has already improved but there are still areas in the Philippines without reliable access to a public doctor at times of need. There were cases when people had to ferry someone who drowned for 3 hours before reaching a private hospital--not a public one at that. And as expected the person was dead on arrival.
Even in places such as Bulacan there are municipalities without a public hospital. Bringing basic services to these areas is critical if we are to promote well being and good health. Without access to any healthcare facility, it will be difficult to convince people to have check-ups. It is scary to go to the doctor as it is, hence it should be easy to access one when there is a need.
