practices that have no scientific basis

Sagot :

Answer:

Practices that have no scientific basis

In the Philippines, there are a lot of customary actions and practices that have no scientific basis. These are part of the culture that were passed down from generations to generations. Though it really don't have any scientific proof or basis, it is still unexplainable why such things happen coincidentally. Such practices were:

  • When you visit a funeral service, don't go straight to your home or you might bring bad luck, even the spirit of the dead. That is why most Filipinos go somewhere else before going home in fear of bringing a ghost in their houses.
  • During mealtime, when utensils fall out of the table, someone will come to your house. Even determining the gender of the person who will come depends on what utensil will fall out. If a spoon falls, then a boy will come and when a fork fall, a girl will come. There is no scientific basis of this practice but most of the time, it really happens.
  • You can't sleep right away when your hair is still wet after taking a short bath at night because you can be blinded.
  • If you met a black cat on your way, don't go because there is something bad that will happen to you.
  • During New Year, you must roll coins from your door going inside your house in hope that good luck, prosperity, and money will enter your house.
  • Do not put your finished plates in the kitchen while there are still eating in the table because of the belief that they might not get married.
  • When you had a very, very bad nightmare at night, just flip over your pillow and that dream will reverse and you will dream sweet dreams.
  • When you're lost in a place you've never been, remove your clothes and wear it again with the wrong side and you'll find the way out.

Why people still believe it though there is no scientific evidence about it?

  • In most cases, it really happens though there is no scientific and tangible evidences.
  • In respect of older people, they believe and accept it as part of the "pamana" culture.
  • Most people really want to have good fortune in their life so they believe something they think that would alleviate them from poverty.
