What are the organs that makes up the upper respiratory system? ☺☺

Sagot :

WHAT ARE THE ORGANS IN THE UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT?

There are four (4) main organs in the upper respiratory tract. These organs are Nose, Mouth, Pharynx, and Larynx. Let's figure out their descriptions and functions.

THE NOSE

The Nose is an organ that is a part of the upper respiratory tract. It is the only organ in the respiratory system that is visible externally. The air we inhale is breathed through our noses. The nose serves as the main entry for air to flow in the body.  The nose is the main external opening for the respiratory tract.

THE MOUTH

The Mouth is an organ that is a part of the upper respiratory tract. It is also called the oral cavity. The mouth is the secondary external opening for the respiratory tract.

THE PHARYNX

The Pharynx is an organ that is a part of the upper respiratory tract. It is also known as the throat. It serves as the pathway for food and air. It leads to two passageways; the esophagus (passageway for food) and trachea (passageway for air).

THE LARYNX

The Larynx is an organ that is a part of the upper respiratory tract. It is also called the voice box. It functions mainly in speech. The air rushing out of the lungs makes the vocal cords vibrate and produce sounds; that's why it's called the voice box.
