The most important feature of a persuasive text is its structure. I always recommend The Pyramid Principle, by Barbara Minto as the best way to learn how to ‘design’ a good structure for a persuasive text. It describes the whole process and it is pretty easy to follow even though some of the elements are counter-intuitive. For example, you don’t write the introduction first (as most people seem to do) because you don’t know what you are introducing until you have decided on your main message.

It’s not a fabulously expensive book so invest in one if you are going to be doing a lot of persuasive writing.
