Of course not. It's never too late for learners to contribute not only in the field of biology but in all aspects of science in 21st century, because the world is ever-changing. There are always infinite number of questions and problems that are yet to be answered.

For example, no one really expected a worldwide pandemic (COVID-19) to occur in such a modern era where information is readily accessible and the field of medicine is almost technologically-advanced -- and yet we were not ready and got caught off guard because we don't have a vaccine that can neûtralize the virus. Due to this unexpected major event, students, scientists, and everyone in the field of medicine should help each other to create an antibody/vaccine that would end COVID-19.

This is one example that discoveries and contributions are always possible whichever era you are.
