A computer virus is a type of malware that can cause harm and damage to your files and system.

A malware is a malicious type of program or software that is being downloaded in your computer system to cause harm and damage to your files. It has several types like: worms, trojans, spywares and viruses. A computer virus needs to piggyback itself to a file. It needs a host file to run. This file should enter the system and should be running successfully before the virus propagates and do its nasty jobs.  

Normally, the virus has an extension of .exe file. This file is normally hidden to the user. Sometimes it is embedded in email attachments and victims are unaware that they have downloaded this. Files that can be copied from external sources (torrents) and drives are mostly comes up with a virus. When the user downloaded a file with the exe file embedded to it, upon opening the file, he makes the virus works.  

Virus can make these to your system :

  1. It can delete your files and folders without you knowing it.
  2. It can make copies of your files and folders in your hard drive causing you to consume too much space.
  3. It can make modifications on your files and folders causing you to get confuse and misplaced files.
  4. It can make your computer boots repeatedly.
  5. It can make copies of itself causing your computer to perform poorly.
  6. It can make your computer to work slow.
