when was the world war 1

Sagot :

Meghzz

World War 1 started on July 28, 1914, 1 month after Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austria-Hungary Throne, was assassinated by a Serbian Nationalist, Gavrilo Princip, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The war continued on for 4 years and took many European, American, and Ottoman lives with it.

On the November 11, 1918; an armistice was signed by the Allied Powers and Germany, the remaining enemy of the Allies. Every November 11, it is known as Armistice Day as it was the day when the Armistice was signed and the conflict ended.

Additional Information:

Henry Nicholas John Gunther, was said to be the last soldier to be killed before the Armistice of November 11, 1918 was to stop the conflict. This American Soldier, the last one to die in WW1, was killed on November 11, 1918 at 10:59am which is 1 minute before the armistice became official.

Having said that, World war 1 ended on November 11, 1918 at 11:00am when all the shooting stopped.
