Which is the best practice to reduce the effect of climate change?
a. livestock raising
b. burning fossil fuel
c. organic farming
d. car manufacturing

Sagot :

Organic farming is the best practice to reduce the effect of climate change among the four options. Climate change is the variation of earth’s climate due to various changes in geological, chemical, biological and geographical factors. Organic farmers use microorganism, earthworms and green manure in providing healthy crops. It gives soil humic acid which is a substance that helps trap carbon better compared to conventional farmed soil.

Further explanation

  • Livestock raising - Human rely on animal agricultural product as part of our food cycle. But animal emits methane and nitrous oxide which are common greenhouse gases that affect the climate change. These methane and nitrous oxide is coming from animal feed processing, enteric fermentation and manure storage. This level differs based from which livestock. In overview, cattle, sheep and goat produce high enteric methane but low manure methane and nitrous oxide comparing to pig and chicken which have low enteric methane but high manure methane and nitrous oxide. Livestock sector requires increase in livestock in order to sustain the increase of human population.
  • Burning fossil fuel - it is the most immense source of carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas that affects climate change and global warming. Coal, oil and natural gas which are commonly used in generating electricity could turn into carbon dioxide upon burning.
  • Car manufacturing - automotive vehicle emits carbon dioxide when the fuel is burnt. Production of these products also contributes since it is composes various application of metal and plastic. Increasing demand on automotive products aggravate the rise of greenhouse gases.  Some of the solution to this problem is the introduction of fuel-efficient vehicle, cleaner fuels, electric car and even transformation of mass transportation to lessen the usage of car by person.
