In multiplying binomials, there are many methods, one of it is the FOIL method.

1.) F means First - Multiply the first term in each set of parenthesis.
2.) O means Outer - Multiply the outer term in each set of parenthesis.
3.) I means Inner - Multiply the inner term in each set of parenthesis.
4.) L means Last - Multiply the last term in each set of parenthesis.
Here:
       ( x + 1) ( 2x + 3 )
1. First terms: x and 2x  = x ( 2x) = [tex] 2x^{2} [/tex]
2. Outer terms: x and 3 = x ( 3 )  = 3x
3. Inner terms: 1 and 2x = 1 ( 2x ) = 2x
4. Last terms: 1 and 3 = 1 (3) = 3
Put them all together in one. (the one who should be first in the line is the one have the highest degree) Degree can be find out by counting the exponents of the variable and adding them together.
[tex] 2x^{2} [/tex] = degree 2
3x = degree 1
2x = degree 1
3 = degree 0

[tex] 2x^{2} [/tex] + 3x + 2x + 3
(All have plus signs because the terms are positive)
Simplify them by doing operations on terms that can be combined:
[tex] 2x^{2} [/tex] + 3x + 2x + 3
[tex]2 x^{2} [/tex] + 5x + 3
Answer:
[tex] 2x^{2} [/tex] + 5x + 3
