Answer:

I have had similar issues, usually its not that people won’t like you, but getting real friends maybe tough. Hope this helps. There’s a few things that turns people off of niceness:

1 Nice person sometimes can’t be honest: some people are too nice to say their likes and dislikes (myself included before) and it becomes confusing to others who want to communicate to you or be your friend. They don’t really know who you are, your boundaries, or what to respect you on.

2 It’s okay to say no: A lot of nice people, myself included, have trouble saying no, as if no, or “i don’t like it” is considered rude. That points to #1, confuses people and later be interpreted as “fake” or “flaky” and once you are seen in those light, you will be excluded from them.

3 It’s distancing: Without expressing our dislikes, negative opinion of someone or something, we disallow ourselves to be vulnerable, people can not relate, therefore become disposable in relationships.

4 No boundaries, no respect: If you are too nice to set boundaries, what is okay, what is not okay to you, people will not respect you, and you may feel taken advantages of or even disliked once you stop doing favors, learn to vocalize that and take actions against all decisions that has made you feel bad.

5 Questions to ask yourself:

“Do I have trouble saying no?”

“Do I change my ‘no’ answer to something else like -maybe, not right now, I don’t know, not sure?”

“Can I say I don’t like something someone else did to me in their face?”
