The first season in the Egyptian calendar was Akhet. Akhet was the flooding season, or the Season of the Inundation. The flooding season lasted from June until September. Farmers were unable to work so they made money through other means, such as fishing.

The second season is called Peretor, the Season of Emergence. This was the growing season which took place between October and February. This was an ideal time to grow crops because the floods left behind rich soil for farmers to plant seeds in to.

The third and final season was Shemu, the Season of the Harvest. The harvest season in March, April and May were hard work as the farmers would spend long hours gathering the crops. They had to harvest their crops quickly, before the floods returned.
