Sagot :
Although Odin is a God in Norse Mythology, his actions and traits are sometimes likened to that of human nature such as his obsession with obtaining knowledge and wisdom. Odin had gone through many lengths to acquire knowledge and wisdom and despite that humans do not explicitly try to gain it, we still have the tendency to desire to know more than what we already do.

Odin's Actions
As mentioned previously, Odin is as curious as humans--although in a greater level. He seeks knowledge and wisdom by any means necessary. He strives to get past the limitations and be an all-knowing God. Odin search for knowledge and wisdom seems to be never-ending. And because of that, he had undergone great lengths such as sacrificing a part of himself.
- One famous story is about Odin and the Well of Mimir. Mimir is known to have great knowledge of cosmos. He was deemed to be the one who knows more about it. This is because he drinks water from his well which imparts him with knowledge about the cosmos. Because of the well's reputation, it was only expected that Odin would be interested in it. When he asked Mimir for a drink from the well, Mimir made one condition: He will only give Odin a drink in exchange for his eye. Odin gouged out his eye and threw it to the well and thus, having granted a drink from the Well of Mimir and gaining cosmic knowledge.
- Other than the story of how he lost an eye in exchange for wisdom, Odin is also known to almost sacrifice himself to learn about the runes. Yggdrasil stands over the Well of Urd. The Well of Urd holds many secrets and knowledge to life and this is where the knowledge about the runes are. In order to gain this knowledge, Odin pierce himself with his spear and hung from Yggdrasil where he can peer down and see into the Well of Urd. Because the runes only revealed themselves to someone worthy, they soon decided to show themselves to Odin after nine nights.
The feats mentioned above show how much Odin is willing to sacrifice in his pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
