Creative writing and academic writing are two different types of writing that though have some similarities.
What these two types of writing have got in common is probably has to do with the general writing guidelines, that concern the basic writing principals such as deviding your piece of writing into parts (the introduction, the main body, the conclusion), the usage of linking words that will differ of course in creative and academic writing types. The linking words help structure the piece of writing. The means of structuring the academic and creative writing will be different though.
What is more, it is important to put the ideas in a special appropriate way that is similar in both of the types, i.e. writing the topic sentence and then support it with the supportive sentences to express the main idea.
And of course, both the academic and creative writing should be proper from the linguistic point of view. What I mean by this is the correct spelling and punctuation.
On the other hand, the creative and academic writing will have completely different ‘language filling’, i.e. vocabulary usage and grammar patterns.
