To raise the temperature of an object, must you add heat to it?

Not always

Adding heat can raise the temperature of an object, but, if the object has higher temperature compared to the added heat, it will not raise the temperature of the object. Raising the temperature cannot only be done by adding heat. It can also be by other forms of transformation of energy like kinetic energy and friction can somehow raise the temperature etc.

If you add heat to an object, will its temperature rise?

Not always.

If you add a lesser heat to the object which is more hotter, the temperature of the object will not increased. Adding heat to a colder object will increase the temperature of the object.
